Caramel Pudding... Thread Modes

When ever ordering desserts in restaurants, I always pick caramel pudding. But, I don't know why I have this fear of not making it right way. Please help me, how can I make it from scratch.

Caramel making:
Take sugar and water in a pan and heat it until you get a syrup of light golden color.
Batter making:
Heat milk in a pan on a low flame. Add vanilla and remove it from the flame. After it is cool down add sugar, eggs and whisk is with the help of hand.
Assembling:
Pour the caramel syrup into the bowl and spread it evenly.
Pour the batter and cover the top of the bowl, so that no air passes.
Heat it in oven for about 40 minutes.
Let it cool down a bit, then turn it upside down to take the pudding out.
